Jah My Guide
Wake up to the glory of the golden morning light.
No punch-clock screaming, no "get to your job,"
Just a peaceful vibration, no reason to sob.
I welcome the day with a soul feeling free,
Nobody in the Babylon bothering me!
(Jah knows!)
I’m just a Rastaman, living my life,
With Jah as my guide, keeping fire alight.
From the porch to the clouds, let the spirit fly high,
Underneath big blue Ethiopian sky!
You see the smile? Yeah, it’s stuck on my face,
Blessed by the spirit and covered in grace.
You ask for my secret? "Who’s your therapist, man?"
I don’t need a doctor, I don’t need a plan!
I don’t need a couch or a medical bill,
I just need Zion to keep my heart still.
I light up a spliff, let the grey smoke arise,
Watch my heavy thoughts drift away to the skies.
Rings of the herb start to float and to roam,
Heading toward Addis, our spiritual home!
I sit on my porch as the world passes by,
With love for the earth and the sea and the sky.
That fragrant sweet smoke blows the shadows apart,
Exhaling the burdens right out of my heart.
I’m steady and true, yeah, I’m feeling the flow,
With the blessing of Jah, I’ve got nowhere to go!
Just Jah.
Just the herb.
Maximum peace.
Total tranquility, you know?
Bless up.
