In the locker room before the match

Remember the day you first stepped onto the field.
When the ball meant the world to you.
When you could play until dark.
When they called you home—and you asked,
"Just five more minutes."
FIVE MORE DAMN MINUTES!
Where is that guy?!
WHERE IS THIS FIRE?!
Don't look around.
Don't look for him in your teammate.
Don't look for him in your coach.
Don't look for him in the stands.
HE'S HERE.
IN YOU.
He's been inside this whole time.
It's just that fatigue set in.
Pressure. Defeats. Injuries. Doubts.
One door SLAMMED.
Then another. Then another.
And one day, a person begins to believe that there's nothing behind those doors.
NONSENSE!
There are warehouses.
There are hangars!
There are entire vaults of your strength!
Your rage! Your character!
Your desire to WIN!
And today...
Today I want you to open these doors.
Every single one of you.
Because in a few minutes, there, behind that wall...
there's going to be a fight.
And don't tell me football is just a game.
Today, it's not. Today, it's not just a game.
Today, every meter of the field will have to be fought for.
Every ball. Every rebound. Every tackle.
Every  centimeter!
They won't give us anything.
NOTHING!
You want space? TAKE IT. You want the ball? TAKE IT.
You want the win? THEN GO AND TAKE IT!
But listen to me carefully. One man can't do it.
One man can win the game.
But the match... THE TEAM WINS THE MATCH.
Look at the person next to you. Look into their eyes.
Today, this isn't just your teammate.
Today, this is the person who will run for you when you're exhausted.
And you will run for them.
When they fall, YOU WILL PICK THEM UP.
When they make a mistake, YOU WILL COVER THEM.
When they get scared, YOU WILL BE THERE.
That's what a team is. Not eleven names.
Not a uniform. Not a logo.
A team is when one person says, "I can't take it anymore."
And ten others respond, "THEN WE WILL CARRY YOU."
Today there will be a moment...
I don't promise you it will be easy.
There will be a moment when it gets tough.
Your legs will feel heavy.
You'll feel short of air.
A voice will appear in your head. A quiet voice.
It will say: "Enough." "You're tired." "Maybe today isn't your day."
And that's when... THAT'S WHAT...
I want you to smile.
And say to THAT VOICE: "You chose the wrong team."
Because we're still here. WE ARE STILL HERE!
Hearts are beating. Blood is flowing.
Lights are lit.
Levers are turned.
THE MECHANISM IS WORKING!
And do you know what happens next?
Celebration.
Yes. HOLIDAY!
Because you confirmed at that moment that you are real professionals, real men, real fighters.
That moment when eleven people step onto the field...
and become ONE.
When you no longer think about yourself.
When pain ceases to matter.
When you look at the scoreboard... look at your opponent...
look at the person next to you... and you realize:
WE CAN. WE WILL BE.

Today, you don't have to be perfect.
Screw perfection!
Today, you have to be alive. Hungry.
Angry. Brave.
Today, you have to give everything.
EVERYTHING!
So that after the final whistle...
there won't be a single question left.
Not a single:
"What if I had run?"
"What if I had fought?"
"What if I had taken one more step?"
NO!
Take this step NOW. Then another.
And another.
Centimeter by centimeter.
Meter by meter.
Minute by minute.
FOR EACH OTHER.
And if today we have to bend the heavens to win...
WE WILL BEND THE HEAVENS.
If we have to walk through fire...
WE WILL WALK THROUGH FIRE.
If we have to awaken what's been sleeping inside us for years...
THEN AWAKEN IT!
Because volcanoes aren't just underground.
They're here.
Within each of you.
And today...
I'm not asking you to win. I'm asking you to do something more.
Go out there... and show them... WHO YOU ARE.
Show each other. Show yourselves.
So that in ninety minutes, no matter what the scoreboard says...
each of you can look into the eyes of the person next to you and say:
"I GAVE YOU EVERYTHING."
This is a team. This is honor.
This is football.
And now... Stand up.
Look at each other.
Remember these faces.
Because today we're not going out there alone.
Today...
WE ARE GOING OUT TOGETHER.
And today we won't remember how strong we once were.
Today...
WE WILL BE STRONG AGAIN.
So Tear down the locks.
Pull the levers.
Wake up the fire.
And when we leave this locker room...
LET THEM HEAR US.
LET THEM SEE US.
LET THEM FEEL US.
Because today...
WE'LL GIVE THEM A MATCH...
THAT WILL WAKE UP THE VOLCANOES!
AND NOW— GO!!!
TOGETHER!!! TOGETHER!!!
TO THE END!!!
