An extraordinary guest
Summer is hotter bit from year to year.
Rains are long-waited by the faded plants.
Annoying sultriness has brought a guest:
a pink-beige hoopoe from a South far side.
It has been walking among young pine-trees,
looking for meal in under-earth ant halls.
Its high bright pappus's trembling from light wind.
One's like a fan and looks completely odd.
It looks too odd as and the long thin beak,
bent slightly down, but one is the good tool
for getting meal. A casual noise: and black-white wings
fly high away, sweeping claw-prints from sand...
