Sunset
Sunset ablaze, the Indian drumbeat’s haze,
Palms bowing low, the lounger stands in wait.
Time flows like tide—I’m here to stay,
How dear each breath, each living day.
2
No sweeter drink to me is known
Than coconut milk—I drink it alone
With the sea before me, vast and free,
From dunes I roll into warm eternity.
3
Set, the god, swallowed the sun—and here's your hello,
sudden darkness, fear sowing seeds in the brain's deep hollow.
Where are you, sun, where is your dawn?
I'll cut through you with prayer—and your trace shall be gone.
4
But the water whispers: “You’re here for a cause—
Set is but shadow that feeds on the pause.
To greet the sunrise, to break through the night,
You’ll need many coins—and none are in sight.
5
Draw your route to the Book Club now—
You should be there, but you’re still here, somehow.
Don’t war with the gods, don’t burn your soul—
There’s coffee and shelves, and you’re not the first goal.”
