The Rain Came Late

For far too long I've stared at this grey sky,
Waiting for the clouds to solve my problems and cry.
But the dryness in my throat and the dust on my shoes,
Remind me of past, ridiculous ways I lose.
The rain promised to arrive by five,
But apparently, it ignores that I'm alive.

Припев
The rain was late, like everything in my life,
Drops caught in a prism of meaningless strife.
I stand beneath dry, mocking thunder,
Feeling entirely torn asunder.
Even the storm refuses to embrace me,
Leaving me to stand here, tragically.

Yesterday's papers pirouette at my feet,
I've learned this cruel lesson on the street:
No one is coming to launder your gloom,
I know this comedy in every empty room.
The wind snickers, tugging at my sleeve,
It's a farce I was born to believe.

And if the heavens begrudge me a drop,
For the wilting flowerbeds of my hollow crop,
Then why did I open this miserable old umbrella?
Just to block out my own pathetic horizon.

Припев
The rain was late, like everything in my life,
Drops caught in a prism of meaningless strife.
I stand beneath dry, mocking thunder,
Feeling entirely torn asunder.
Even the storm refuses to embrace me,
Leaving me to stand here, tragically.

It was late. Far too late for the drama.
And the clouds are going back to their mama.
