Some people think that they’re wise,
that they can judge and analyze,
from science and art to human fate,
deciding who deserves what weight.
They speak of justice, karma, lot,
yet cast their verdicts without thought,
condemning strangers they don’t know
for where they happened to be born.
The modern world says, “Do not hate,”
yet still we sort and separate.
We list exceptions, draw new lines,
then cut through people as with knives.
We never walk in others’ shoes,
yet judge the roads they did not choose.
We call them wrong, we call them strange,
while blind to circumstance and change.
It is the human compromise:
to criticize, dehumanize.
Yet sometimes what we call humanity
Is far removed from true humanity.
Human after all?
