Gave Away My Soul for Free
Life set snares for me, I licked my wounds in silence. Mustering the last of my strength, I howled at the moon in agony.
I’m painfully familiar with these wolfish ways. To win this fight is simple in its essence, But admitting a fatal mistake is hard. Living with your soul exposed is reckless luxury.
Being prey is always perilous, Kindness is not enough for this fanged crowd. Evil always goes for the throat, And the soul grows stronger, angrier.
The killers grew desperate, Clenching fists and grinding teeth. I’ve closed my soul, But the animals still peer through the windows.
They still look askance, Their arrogance slightly tempered. They always try, somehow, Without asking, to worm their way into my soul.
I’m terribly familiar with these wolfish habits. To win this battle is simple in its essence, But admitting a fatal blunder is hard. Living with your soul exposed is reckless luxury. A slash through the heart, Reckless luxury.
