Kikes

A warning poem. Written after reading Mayakovsky's "The Yid". About hypocrisy, not about nationality.

Let's talk about money today? No!
Better yet, let's talk about Kikes!
Yes, yes, wipe your eyes — don't slow,
morning buzzes like a dragonfly, strike!

Who, thirty years on the road to success,
saved up babulets into a cutlet press?
Who paid off three mortgages with no porn?
Those are the successful — not even torn!

Who denounced Kikes left and right?
Slandered his friends, staged a pogrom at night?
And for someone's Jewish descent,
cursed acquaintances, utterly spent,
never once noticing, day by day,
he lived thirty years the Kike way?

Then later, against the government,
he craved revenge, sought a violent event —
searched and searched, found none,
and carried on living as a Kike, undone.

…This a poet wrote. Now you know:
no Kikes float this boat.
There are people, fear, the clink of coins.
And your choice: to be a Hypocrite — or not?

«Babulets» — deliberate mangling of «babki» (slang for money) + «bablos» (criminal slang) + «kotlety» (cutlets), mimicking the original's grotesque sound play. In English, it reads as absurdist noise, which is the point.
