The Buddha s Tea

I dreamt I walked in Shambhala,
A land beyond all worldly law
There Buddha sat in tranquil grace,
A gentle smile upon his face
He poured the tea in silent rite,
Bathed in a soft and golden light

He let me join his peaceful rest,
And put my questions to the test
We talked of life and what's to be,
Of time and of eternity
I asked him how he bears the sight
Of endless dark and fading light

He chuckled, "Oh, you naive soul,
I watch to keep the planet whole
I am the guardian of the sphere,
Dispelling doubt and calming fear
Imagine that this world's an anthill grand,
A tiny speck of living sand

My only care is for the mound,
That it remains both safe and sound
The ants themselves, they have free will
To build a home or stand stock-still
But let me tell you something more,"
He said, and winked, "behind the door...
Imagine anthills fill the sky,
As many as the stars that fly"

Oh, Buddha, Lord of endless skies,
I saw myself through different eyes
I thought I was creation's crown,
The finest soul in any town,
But I'm an ant, so small and plain,
A single drop in cosmic rain

Oh, Buddha, what is there to do?
This changes my whole point of view
We learned we were the peak of all,
Destined to rise and never fall,
But we are motes that drift and gleam,
Just passing through a cosmic stream
