The Longest Night


[Daughter]
— Father, tell me, why is it so dark outside, Why does January cover the world in ice? Why does it hurt so much when nothing goes right, And why do we need all this chaos in life?

[Father and reassuring Mother]
— My daughter dear, it's just a lesson to learn — The night feels longer before the dawn will break. Light is born there where darkness once did burn, The son is with you here, he'll be the answer you make.

[Daughter and Father]
— But I'm so tired of this battle within, "Someone whispers"..... Surrender, return to peace. "The veil grows thin"..... and I hear their call begin — Spirits and shadows from centuries that ceased.

[Father]
— My daughter dear, it's just a lesson to learn — In the darkest hour the Truth will be revealed. What they call evil is just a step in turn, Rise up higher, where Love becomes your shield.

[Daughter]
— Father, what if I cannot make it through?
(FATHER ANSWERS)
— "You already have, standing strong in the wind".

[Daughter]
— Father, why must I face all these battles too?
(FATHER ANSWERS)
— "So you remember, child — we're never alone, we're twin".



[Daughter is singing to her own daughter]
— My daughter dear, here's the lesson supreme: To see in each day the mercy from above. Light and dark are one, just a different stream, And love is everything — the reason you became, my love.

[Father] Go forward now through blizzards and through smoke, You're a part of Me, don't fear, I'm right behind you. This world's just a lesson, let it never provoke, The road of the soul begins here.....

[Daughter] With your warmth to be the guide, so true.
