O, father, the farewell weighs upon my heart, 
A winding road stretches far beyond my sight. 
Should weeks pass without a word from me, 
Forgive my silence, I'll surely write. 
But write to me as well, for I may fall ill, 
Yet I will never forget you.

The ancient scroll, a gift you gave,
I wrap around my soul and my heart,
O, father, you taught me how to write –
For that I thank you, dear.
Your words are jewels that sparkle bright within my eyes,
And in the hush of river;side
You whisper thoughts that steer. 
You taught me how to think, to reason, to be kind
Thank you, my father,
And every step I take is guided by the light you’ve shown.

I will not covet another’s property,
I won’t veil deceit with kind words spoken to the face,
I will not strike the trusting from behind.
O, father, those wicked ways are not my road.
Instead I’ll share my bread and water with those near,
For you taught me to value the little things — thank you, my father.
I will break my loaf and pour my water to the ones beside me,
And walk beside them, sharing what I have.

The Lord, my fortress and ever - lasting shield,
Upon Him I set my trust while travelling the way.
He is my support, the power that steadies my stride,
I will not spurn the outstretched hand, o, father.
You taught me to share, and for that I give thanks,
May good return to each, like the river’s flowing water.

My heart is glad, I’ll sing a hymn of grateful praise,
For in the Lord the power of His people stays.
Turn away the drought that cracks the vines we sow,
Let every vineyard flourish, drenched in living flow!
Bless the flocks that wander ’neath Your watchful eye!
Be Shepherd, Guardian — God, who never lets us die!

O father, you gave me letters, taught me how the world begins.
The oil and bread, the wine and water that you poured,
Will be my sustenance while distant roads lie unexplored.
Your words are jewels that blaze within my sight,
And thankfulness, you taught, becomes my constant light.
