The world is on fire

Grant us insight, Lord, we pray,
Save us from this global war.
Like the silver paid to Judas,
Leaders now are blind once more.
Why has this come, O Father?
Bombs and drones fill up the sky.
Day has turned into blackest night,
Conscience and honor say goodbye.

Only deals are held in honor,
Only the strong are right today.
What you sow, that you shall reap,
Humanity you’ve thrown away.
Grant us insight and the courage
Black from white at last to see.
Turn away from war and sorrow,
Let Truth’s pure light shine bright and free.

We pay with the fate of generations,
With the tears of orphans, mothers’ pain.
Give us one more chance for vision,
To drive out evil, break its chain.
Let the people turn back to goodness,
Let the scorched earth be washed clean.
May the guns fall silent forever,
Let the golden wheat fields be seen.

Nations ablaze and peoples burning,
Humanity burns in the war.
We stubbornly divide our world,
Then pay for our recklessness once more.

Grant us insight… grant us insight, Lord…
Let the weapons fall silent evermore…
And the fields of wheat rise once again…
Grant us insight… forevermore.
