Through the Rift
I dove from heights where only wild birds fly.
The waves broke loose in storms I can’t contain,
And thunder split my heart across the sky.
A maddened wind was tearing me apart,
A raging whirlwind rising from within.
A force of life that struck my trembling heart
With lightning’s glow and incandescent spin.
It felt like currents burning through my veins,
An electric storm that shook my very core.
If only you could glimpse where heaven strains,
Where all the nerves of the universe roar.
How much it hurts when flesh becomes a storm
And rips your world to ashes from inside.
You were my blood — yet shattered every form,
And all my realms in fire burned and died.
You were a part of me, my soul, my breath,
But struck like lightning straight into my chest.
And in the cracks, where poems bleed to death,
A fragile memory is all that’s left.
And still, through storms that tear my world in two,
Through winds that shake my spirit to the bone,
I think of you not as an enemy — but you,
The one whose breath once warmed my every dawn.
I let go of the storm that broke my frame;
Let it fall down as rain to cleanse the scars.
I choose not hatred, not the cold of blame —
I choose a love that never deals in wars.
I forgive you — I will not judge your way,
I pray for you to God each passing day.
My heart still holds the strength to love you true,
May every road ahead bring joy to you.
