THE TWO LINES

"Две Строчки", 1943

Remembered soldier from my writes,
I wrote about him just two lines,
In 1940 for what price
He fatal got shot on finn ice.
I saw there lying like for study
A thin one, like a childish body,
A coat his frozen to the ground,
His hat was thrown far ahead.
It seemed like he was not a dead,
But running faster through a bound,
And ice his coat line got like hunt.
Amongst the war, the great and cruel
I cannot mind reason why
I always know that fate is brutal,
It's like myself is getting deadful.
I'm so afraid would that get mine,
Like frozen, small and killed what for,
And so unknown like every war,
So dreadful, everyone, and mine...
