Георгий родился в Бейруте,
но слава его - до Москвы,
И даже народ Сакартвело
Известен под видом грузин!

Раздал все имущество бедным,
когда про гоненья узнал
и хоть был он римским военным,
но веру в Христа он познал.

Его убивал император
Жестокий Диоклетиан,
Но Бог Ему вылечил раны,
И мягкою плавилась сталь.

Его одевали в колодки,
Камнями давили на грудь,
И колесовали жестоко,
Смешали с землею, но вдруг

Раздался гром, все потемнело
И ангел явился тотчас,
И все исцелил ему тело,
Так снова Христос его спас.

И обувь надели с гвоздями,
И он в раскаленностях шел,
Все стало в порядке с ногами,
Когда к нему ангел сошел.

Травили его - бесполезно.
Он и мертвеца воскресил!
И каялся волхв ему слезно,
Народ ко Христу приходил!

Тогда, поразясь, император
Полвласти ему предложил,
Привел к Аполлону средь капищ,
Но идолов он сокрушил.

И императрица, сраженно,
Пошла за ним и умерла.
Тогда был казнен и Георгий.
Но слава его прожила

И десять лет - до Константина,
Который признал христиан,
И даже до нашего мира,
И сквозь атеизм просиял!

Посмертное чудо - о змие,
где всадник на белом коне
спасает от смерти девицу,
стоит на Московском гербе.

And people converted to Christ!

Then, being amazed, Diokletian
Has offered him half of his power,
Brought him to the Apollo's temple,
But he crushed all the idols down.

And even the empress, so struck by
Saint George followed him and then fell.
Then they executed George, but his
fame lived on and lasted ten years

until Constantine came to power,
And he recognized Christian faith,
And even until our time, and
through atheism, shone his fame!

The posthumous wonder with serpent,
where the rider on a white horse
saves a girl from death, came to Moscow
And stands at its coat of arms.
