We don't ask much of God,
Because we don't need everything.
We simply need a warm shoulder
on life's road.
The light of laughing eyes
Brings joy every day,
There is the pleasant coolness of the water,
And the ghostly shadow of the trees.
What should we ask for?
We must live more simply,
Not wander in the dust of other people's roads.
And of course, the ellipsis of thoughts
Should brighten, for God is beside us...
We don t ask much of God
