Neuronchaser. Swamp-Train Prayer
Sweat on my spine, and a weight I can't deny.
Workin' dawn to dusk, till the sun turns gray,
Just a hammer in my hand, and a debt I can't pay.
The river’s a mirror, but it don't show me no light,
Just the ghosts of the men who lost the fight.
We sang low in the dark, with a soul full of ache,
'Cause the swamp don't care if you bend or you break.
But I feel it in my bones, there’s a light in the world,
(But I feel it in my bones, there’s a light in the world,)
Even if my path is jagged and curled...
(Even if my path is jagged and curled...)
Oh-h-h... My Lord, we are callin’ through the mud and the sin,
Hear our voice... Swamp Train Prayer... Let the mercy come in.
From the dirt and the sweat, from the rusts and the chains,
Just let me see the sun... O-h-h, Jesus... just one more days...
We laid down these roads, with our blood and our pride,
But the gold went up, while the hope died inside.
Every night we’d gather, with a bottle and a moan,
Talkin' 'bout freedom... like a seed never sown.
If that whistle don't blow, I'll walk through the flood,
With a prayer in my mouth and the faith in my blood.
But I feel it in my bones, there’s a light in the world,
That’s waitin’ to wrap 'round my weary soul.
Oh-h-h... My Lord, we are callin’ through the mud and the sin,
Hear our voice... Swamp Train Prayer... Let the mercy come in.
From the dirt and the sweat, from the rusts and the chains,
Just let me see the sun... O-h-h, Jesus... just one more days.
