Stranger
Burning every trace, unkind.
I’ll cut the extras out of sight,
Even you — it’s time, goodnight.
Now you’re just a stranger’s face,
Just as useless, out of place,
Like those who came as friends, embrace,
Then just left a trace, no trace.
I’ll cross out everything we’ve had,
Start a new life, bright and glad.
Though I haven’t really forgot,
You’re just past — that’s all you’ve got.
I won’t come back — that’s set in stone!
Don’t appear when I’m alone,
When the night wraps round the town,
Don’t come near, don’t bring me down!
Now you’re just a stranger’s face,
I will pass by, keep my space…
Now I have my own decree,
And I live the way I please!
