На торжище монахинь христианских
В Александрии продавали дев,
Что выбрали Христа, для надругательств -
Увидел то Едесий и вскипел

Святым на торгашей негодованьем,
Что дев в дома терпимости сдадут -
И князя-торгаша сбил с ног ударом,
Пощечиною смазав по лицу.

Тогда его схватили, утопили.
И так же пострадал и Амфиан -
Когда он в Кесарийской Палестине
На поклоненье идолам восстал,

Его повесили, и с маслом в ткань обвили,
Как факел, издеваясь, поджгли,
Ему явился Свет - Христос Спаситель
В речах сверхчеловечно укрепил!

И он Христа бесстрашно исповедал,
И в море его бросили потом,
Но море вспенилось, вернуло тело
Обратно в город, он был потрясен

Внезапным и большим землетрясенье,
И жители поославили Христа.
Не бойтесь, девы, - есть вам заступленье!
Не бойтесь пыток - смерть побеждена!

This awful and great earthquake struck the town,
And the inhabitants glorified Jesus.
So fear not, virgins, - you have patronage!
And fear not tortures — death's killed, Christ is risen!
