The Cranes by R. Gamzatov
Who on the bloody battlefields remained
It seems to me they're here and still near us
But turned into the snow-white lovely cranes.
And from those days they have been flying there
High in the sky and clouded by the sun,
And that's the reason why we're often greaving
Until these heavenly moments are gone...
The tired wedge of cranes is flying there
In heavy fog while warching them I yearn
That one day maybe I will be among them
And look at you in sadness all along.
