Prayer to Abbo II

Peace be with you. For where two or three are gathered in the name of love,
There among them dwells the heavenly light.


Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit peace.
Saint Abbo, good shepherd, who did not forsake his flock,
Hear the voice of those who hunger and thirst for righteousness in this world.
You, who were the salt of the earth, let not our faith lose its savor.

A new commandment I give: that you love one another, as He has loved us.
Abbo, faithful servant, may the will of Heaven be done upon us,
Strengthen the spirit of the poor in heart, for theirs is the Kingdom!


Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick,
Your holy prayer, Abbo, shines to all in the house of the Lord.
Help us to forgive our debts and to carry our daily cross,
For the yoke is easy, and the burden, shared with a brother, is light.
