He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
As the good shepherd leaves the ninety-nine sheep for the sake of one,
So you, Gaugericus, sought those lost in the darkness.


You did not hide the lit candle under a basket,
But placed it on a lampstand, to give light to all in the world.
For the hungry hungered, and you gave food; was in prison, and you came.
Pray to the Father who sees in secret, that He may reward us openly,
And let us not build the temple of the soul upon shifting sand.

Grant us sight, like the blind men by the dusty road,
For blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

You are the salt of the earth. If the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned?
You, who shattered the idols of stone, preserve in us hearts of flesh.
As the birds of the air do not sow, so you relied upon the Bread of Life.
Entreat for us Him who clothes the lilies of the field,
That we may take no thought for the morrow, but seek the Kingdom of Heaven.
