Prayer to the Gerald of Mayo

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hear the voice of Your flock, crying out to Saint Gerald.


Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God.
O, Gerald of Mayo, good shepherd,
Who left his fatherland for the sake of his brothers.
You gathered the scattered sheep under one roof,
So that there would be no division among them, but united love.

Let your light so shine before men,
That they may see your good works.
For the yoke of the Lord is easy, and His burden is light,
Show us the way to the abode of eternal peace.


Verily, verily I say unto you: a grain of wheat fallen into the earth,
If it dies, it brings forth much fruit.
So too, holy father, you passed through sorrow and pestilence,
Not fearing death, but feeding the hungry.
He who has done mercy to one of the least of these, has done it unto the Lord.
