Souls dance

Life after life, land after land,
The soul changes bodies with me hand in hand.
In the stream of people and meaningful moments we search on our own,
Those we once knew, their gazes through the centuries still shown

Painting on cave walls, I remember playing with uncontrollable flame,
Through waters, through ice age, through drought of sands we came.
Breaking through jungles with cicadas and heavy rain,
Near the desert we raised columns and temples again.

We gathered in secret, together, around a round table once more,
Long ago all got involved in a battle for the throne at its core.
And our souls, it seems, for millions of years in their dance,
Circle through rebirths, evading each new mischance.

Swords had changed to guns and then to nuclear weapon,
Language of culture had developed gods to save us, step in.
The methods of killing and technology have been evolved,
Life after life our conflict remains without being resolved.

How we found one another, and how we forgot,
Will be told by discoveries buried in dust long sought.
We share a secret, listening to echoes of meetings we’ve had,
Speaking through glances, with silent words in our eyes clad.

But every encounter would pass with a cruel, fated end,
Especially when hiding the talents we couldn’t defend.
And if one looks deeper inside and sees those who died long ago,
Then after the meeting they may discover an enemy or a kindred soul.
