I still recall that quiet summer night,
a moonlit walk within the park so green.
It seemed to last forever in the light,
a magic world, the likes I'd never seen.

I wasn't reckless, wasn't being blind.
No one's to blame for how the story ends.
A chance encounter, meaninglessly kind,
a look that didn't promise to be friends.

As if a touch of bliss had come to stay,
as if by fate or some divine decree -
my heart was shaken in a sudden way,
the world I knew felt empty then to me.

And suddenly, I drifted into dreams,
not knowing if they're false or truly meant.
But through my veins, where soul and spirit stream,
a sudden, silent answer then was sent.

It's gone... and now an autumn evening's chill
is far away from park and moonlit space.
But still, my lips, my eyes, they feel you still,
and memory brings back your haunted face.
