In the Sanhedrin

But yesterday rang out with love and praise,
Today blind hatred burns in frenzied blaze.
“He must for all the people suffer death!”
So Caiaphas proclaims with fervent breath.
The Pharisees reply with cruel accord:
“He merits death - condemn Him, slay the Lord!”
Thus Satan, plotting in his dark domain,
Through hands of men brings Christ to grief and pain.
