Phantom Limb
The flesh that rotted while I stayed married
To the gangrene kiss, to the purple bloom
I let her consume the rest of the room
The doctor said cut, but I held her tight
A love so wrong it felt right
I traced the black veins up to my knee
She was taking more, but she was still me
I dreamt of running without her weight
Woke up screaming, cursing fate
She whispered "you're nothing without my bone"
So I chose the rot and I chose alone
Till the fever came and the choice was made
I kissed her goodbye, I let the blade
Take her from me, take her away
Now I wake to a ghost where she used to lay
BUT THE ROT DOESN'T CARE HOW DEEP YOU BLEED
IT ONLY WANTS WHAT IT NEEDS
I LET HER GO, I LET HER GO
THE BODY DEMANDS A DIFFERENT WAY
I STILL FEEL HER IN THE MORNING!
THE PHANTOM WEIGHT, THE PHANTOM PAIN!
SHE'S GONE BUT SHE'S STILL BURNING!
I CUT HER LOOSE BUT I BLEED THE SAME!
I BLEED THE SAME!
