Spring s Arrival
And nature wakes in bright array
The golden sun now warms the land,
While rooks tap tunes with beak in hand
The river sheds its icy sheen,
New grass unfolds in shades of green
How sweet to stroll through fields so wide -
We’ve longed for warmth by winter’s side
The birds take flight in skies so blue,
Their hymns to spring ring pure and true
Soon nests will cradle life anew,
And fledglings dance in morning dew
The school year ends with joyful cheer,
For summer’s rest is drawing near
We’ve waited long for earth to rise,
To greet the sun with sleepy eyes
Oh, welcome, spring! We’ve missed your light,
Too thrilled for sleep, we dance all night
And soon the summer winds will play -
We count the hours, we dream, we sway
So warm, so bright, our hearts take flight,
With plans as endless as the sky
The world’s alive, the air’s a song -
Oh, spring, we’ve waited far too long!
