Existential Questions
You never know just how, or when, or why –
The reason why things happen as they do,
Or what it is that governs fortune too.
Life slips right through your fingers, like water, by.
But can we dream, desire, or take flight,
Not knowing what our strivings will impart?
Can we, with senseless reasonings of the heart,
Ever sing praise to this world’s beauty bright?
Not understanding, can we truly love?
Not knowing, can we hold our faith sincere?
And having found no measuring rod to steer,
Can we change anything this life is of?
