fainant idle

An idle person is the modern equivalent of the word “fainant”. An idle person is someone who is not actively using their time or energy to work, create, or engage in activities. They usually choose to do nothing or very little during their day, which can lead to a lack of productivity and progress. The word “fain;ant” is derived from French, which literally means “do-nothing”. An idle person thus displays similar characteristics by being uninvolved and inactive. They may be seen as lazy or unmotivated, and can become a burden in their work or social life if it is not addressed. An idle person has the potential to be productive if they are provided the right motivation and guidance.
