The Love We Shared

She was the one, a constant, steady fire,
Who cherished me and held me in her soul.
To stay with me was all she would desire,
To age together, watching seasons roll.

She loved with passion, reckless and so deep,
The kind of love that happens only once.
She treasured every vow she had to keep,
And gave me second, third, and fourth more chance.

She truly believed that we would find our way,
That nothing in this world could break our bond.
That time would never lead our hearts astray,
An end like this was far too far beyond.

She fought so fiercely, trying to impart,
That even through the weariness and pain,
There is a sense, a shelter for the heart,
Where love and warmth and loyalty remain.

She strove for beauty, simple and divine,
She longed to trust the sincerity of soul.
To live in truth, to let her spirit shine,
With honest love—that was her only goal.

I still recall each moment that we knew,
The way you greeted me, your gentle sighs,
The way you looked at me, as if you drew
The reflection of the love within my eyes.

Your smile, your gaze, the grace of every move,
I see them now, as clear as yesterday.
But time has rushed, with nothing left to prove,
I missed the point when you had walked away.

I failed to give you all you dreamed to find,
The things you wanted from our shared life.
I couldn't, didn't know, or was too blind...
Perhaps it’s foolish now to feel this strife.

We missed the moments that we should have held,
The main objective slipped right through our hands.
The precious spark within us was expelled,
Like fading fire, or shifting of the sands.

And all that mattered—deep within our mind,
The memories are locked, and there they’ll stay.
We know that happiness we both will find,
But we won't share it on a future day.
