Вот и вечер,
И дворовый кот,
Как всегда -
Одинок и тосклив;

Лишь, подруги-берёзы,
Перешёптываясь листвою -
С теплом и любовью,
Понимают его, даже тогда -
Когда он молчалив...

Но в душе его,
Пушистой и мягкой, -
Столько сказок!
- Кому б рассказать?..

Ну, хоть ты, одинокий
Прохожий фотограф,
Не торопись уходить!
Не спеши... - Подойди,
И тихо меня погладь...

И я песню тебе
Промурлычу свою...
Эта песня печальна...
Но, для меня родней
Этой песни - нЕту;
Эта песня -
Про милую маму мою.©

And the alley cat -
As always -
Lonely and melancholy;
Only his birch friends,
Whispering through their leaves -
With warmth and love,
Understand him, even then -
When he's silent...
But in his soul,
Fluffy and soft, -
So many tales!
- Who should I tell?..
Well, at least you, a lonely
Passerby - photographer,
Don't rush to leave!
Don't rush... - Come on over,
And gently stroke me...
And I'll purr my song to you...

But, for me, there's no song closer
Than this one;
