Crying in the Limelight
The stage lights burn but I feel frozen,
A smile stitched where my heart's broken.
They scream my name like they can save me,
But no one sees the tears I'm drowning in lately.
Cameras flash like lightning strikes,
Capturing my fake goodnights.
I'm the king of this town,
But the crown's crushing down.
I'm crying in the limelight,
Dying just to feel alright.
Every cheer is a reminder,
Of the fire that burns inside her.
Spotlights show my shattered parts,
But they'll never see the cracks in my heart.
I'm the star of my own tragedy,
A masterpiece of misery.
Autographs in bleeding ink,
Signing over all I think.
They want my pain, they want my story,
But don't care if it destroys me.
The encore calls, I fake the high,
Swallow tears to wave goodbye.
I'm the face of their delight,
While I'm crumbling inside.
I'm crying in the limelight,
Dying just to feel alright.
Every cheer is a reminder,
Of the fire that burns inside her.
Spotlights show my shattered parts,
But they'll never see the cracks in my heart.
I'm the star of my own tragedy,
A masterpiece of misery.
"They say 'you've made it', but made what exactly?
A prison of my past where I'm the ghost that haunts me?
I traded my soul for a taste of the dream,
Now I'm screaming in silence behind the screen."
I'm crying in the limelight!
But the show must go on...
Dying just to feel alright!
So I'll play along...
Every cheer is a reminder -
That I'm lost in the sound...
Of the girl that i left behind her!
And she's never coming 'round...
"Take a bow, the curtain's falling...
Funny how the brightest stars
Are already dead when you see them shining."
