February s Crystal Breath

The velvet sky is heavy, grey and deep,
While all the world is lost in silver sleep.
The February wind begins to moan,
Across the fields of ice we walk alone.
But in the shiver of the freezing air,
I feel your heartbeat, and I know you’re there.

Oh, crystal snow, fall soft upon the ground,
In this white kingdom, peace is finally found.
No golden sun can warm me like your soul,
In winter’s heart, you make my spirit whole.
But we are dancing through the leafless trees.

Each snowflake is a secret, carved in light,
A diamond falling through the endless night.
The tracks we leave will vanish in the haze,
Like memories of old and lonely days.
The world is silent, dressed in bridal white,
Under the watch of pale and frozen light.

February’s breath, so cold and yet so pure,
Our love is the only thing that will endure.
Let the snow fall, let the winter reign,
Until the silver turns to gold again.
