Woke Up Alone But Your Ghost Still Smiles
Sunlight spills on empty sheets,
Coffee cold, no morning beats.
Just silence where your laugh should be -
But your ghost still smiles at me.
I fold the blanket just like you,
Leave your side untouched, still true.
The mirror shows a hollow face…
But in my mind, you fill this space.
Woke up alone - but your ghost still smiles,
Soft as dawn, walking miles
Through every room, through every day,
Like you never walked away.
You’re in the steam above my cup,
In the way the curtains lift up.
I’m living solo, cold and clear -
But your ghost is always near.
You used to hum that old song low,
While tying up your morning bow.
I’d watch you dance in slippers bare,
Hair a mess, without a care.
Said, “One day, we’ll grow old right here,”
Now I whisper it to thin air.
The bed’s too wide, the nights too long -
But your echo sings our song.
I bought new sheets, I changed the view,
Even painted walls a different hue.
But memory paints you back again -
In every shadow, every when.
Woke up alone - but your ghost still smiles,
Soft as dawn, walking miles
Through every room, through every day,
Like you never walked away.
You’re in the steam above my cup,
In the way the curtains lift up.
I’m living solo, cold and clear -
But your ghost is always near.
Last week I saw your favorite dress -
Still hanging in the closet, yes.
I almost called your name out loud…
Then caught myself inside the cloud
Of hope that lingers, thin and thin -
A love that’s lost, but won’t give in.
You’re gone in body, not in grace -
Your warmth still fills this empty space.
I know I should let go, move on,
Find a new place, a different dawn.
But how do I erase the light
That held me through my darkest night?
You weren’t perfect - you were real,
The kind of love that made me feel
Worthy, seen, and deeply known…
Now I’m lost - and yet not alone.
Woke up alone - but your ghost still smiles,
Haunting me through silent miles.
You’re in the rain, you’re in the rain,
In every joy, in every pain.
I speak your name into the air -
And swear you’re standing over there.
I’m living solo, truth be told…
But your ghost won’t let me go.
So I’ll keep waking, day by day,
With your shadow in the gray.
Not to hold me back - but prove
That love like ours still lives… in truth.
You’re gone…
But still you stay -
In every dawn…
You smile my way.
