I look at the sky —
It’s pressing me down,
I’m so very small,
It’s hard just to breathe.
In this world of numbers,
Events and faces,
One wrong turn —
And you’re ready to fall.

We make our plans
As if they were real,
As if someone asked us
Is this what you want?
But life never reads
Our careful predictions,
It simply keeps pushing
On our weakest spots.

Some people get lucky —
They climb their way up,
Applause all around,
Lights and success.
But late in the night,
With no one to see,
He’s left all alone
With the emptiness there.

Simple happiness
Stayed far below,
Where laughter comes easy
And tea in a glass,
And the one who has risen
Suddenly knows —
He’s higher than all,
But far from himself.

Little man,
You’re a grain of sand in the desert,
You’re carried away
By other people’s decisions.
Little man,
You are subject to forces
That don’t give a damn
Who you were, who you are.

Little man…
Just a little man.

Illness comes
Without knocking the door,
An accident strikes
Without any reason.
Today it’s “later”,
Tomorrow it’s “now”,
And everything you had
Loses its meaning.

There is no protection
From dark, brutal days,
No money, no status
Can take the blow.
We are all the same
At that very moment
When life suddenly
Presses “start” or “stop”.

You think there are people
Around you, friends,
And maybe there’s someone
You still can call,
But at some point
You are left in the dark,
Face to face
With this trouble —
One on one.

No help is coming,
No words are left,
Your hands start to shake
In the empty silence.
And suddenly you understand
Without loud phrases —
You are small and fragile,
Just a simple man.

No one is insured,
Do you hear? No one!
Not the strong, not the smart,
Not the one who “made it”.
We walk on the edge
With our eyes tightly closed,
Thinking it’s a road,
Not a razor blade.


Little man,
In this mad, brutal world,
Full of wars and fear
And someone else’s hate.
Little man,
You deserve some peace,
But even for that
You have to fight
And pay your price…
