Frozen Solid

My skin is frozen solid,
Cracks run through broken dreams.
Embraced by empty days,
The winds hum forgotten themes.

No thoughts come down the line,
Darkness devours the sun.
I breathe in fog and silence -
The abyss has just begun.

Summer lies dead within,
Buried in winter’s reign.
In the deepest chill I shiver
And tear through dreams again.

The void calls out my name,
Its silence wraps me tight.
The frost of summer lingers -
I vanish in its white.

I am the one to blame,
Complicit in retreat.
Avoidance is my shelter,
Loneliness, my beat.

All around feels hollow,
Their kindness just a mask.
Friends turn into cronies,
Their loyalty won’t last.

Relatives are drowning
in debt, regret, and doubt.
Their carelessness cuts deeply -
I can’t tune it out.

Cold on my skin, but I’m trying to breathe,
Lost in the winter I built underneath.
If there’s a spark in the dark, let it take -
Even the frost learns someday how to break.

I’ve got stories I could tell,
But they always try to run.
So I hold it in the silence
While I face the setting sun.

Yet somewhere in the distance,
A pulse beneath the snow -
A quiet, stubborn echo
Of warmth I used to know.

It flickers through the frostbite,
A lantern in the storm,
Reminding me that even
Cold darkness has its form.

The world keeps turning slowly,
Though I feel stuck in place.
Time carves its subtle pathways
Across my vacant face.

And still I keep on walking
Through quiet, fear, and ache -
For even frozen rivers
Find strength enough to break.

If dawn decides to find me,
I’ll let it draw me near.
The sun can melt the silence
I’ve carried year to year.

But if the night grows louder
And shadows claim their due,
I’ll face them with the stories
I never shared with you.

I’ve got stories I could tell,
But they always try to run.
So I hold it in the silence
While I face the setting sun.

The silence isn’t empty.
It’s just a place I learned to walk through.
If the sun don’t come, I still move.

One step.
One thaw.
One truth.
