You Left, But Your Shadows Stayed

A cycle of poems «The Night Won’t Let Me Forget You»

Empty frames on the wall, the echo of your name,
Sunrise through the curtains, but nothing feels the same.
Coffee turns cold, silence fills the air,
I reach for your hand, but you’re no longer there.

I walk through the rooms where your laughter once played,
Every corner haunted by the choices we made.

You left, but your shadows stayed,
Dancing in the light, refusing to fade.
Your voice in the hallway, your scent on my skin,
I close every window, but you’re still blowing in.

I try to move forward, but the past holds me tight,
Your ghost in my mirror, your smile in the night.
I paint over memories, but the colors bleed through,
No matter the distance, I’m tangled in you.

I whisper goodbye to the life we designed,
But your shadow keeps tracing the edge of my mind.

You left, but your shadows stayed,
Dancing in the light, refusing to fade.
Your voice in the hallway, your scent on my skin,
I close every window, but you’re still blowing in.

If time is a healer, then why does it burn?
I’m lost in the lessons I never could learn.
I reach for tomorrow, but yesterday calls,
Your shadow beside me, it never withdraws.

You left, but your shadows stayed,
Dancing in the light, refusing to fade.
Your voice in the hallway, your scent on my skin,
I close every window, but you’re still blowing in.

So I’ll live with your shadows, the memories made,
You left, but your shadows -
They never betrayed.
