Dream

It was a summer evening, quiet and warm,
I raised my eyes and saw the storm.
A burning giant crossed the sky,
A falling fire, a final sign.
It wasn’t fast, it wasn’t small,
A flaming heart about to fall.
And in that light we understood:
No one would stop it. No one could.

Phones went silent, voices broke,
Every truth we never spoke.

Why didn’t we wake up in time?
Why did we choose the wrong side?
We’re children of the Earth, the light,
But we learned to hate, not to unite.
Why do we fight for flags and lines
When the sky is running out of time?
This is our home, this is our cry—
Why didn’t we wake up in time?

They sat in rooms with painted walls,
Cold hands, sharp words, closed doors and calls.
They talked of power, land and gain,
While heaven burned above the pain.
They were dividing Ukraine,
Like it was nothing, just a game.
They dreamed of Greenland, ice and gold,
While our last story was being told.
No shields were built, no minds aligned,
No future saved for humankind.
They chose control, they chose to fight,
And missed the falling star of light.

Why didn’t we wake up in time?
Why did we sell our souls for lines?
We’re children of the Earth, the light,
But we keep choosing war, not life.
Why do we fight for land and pride
When the end is burning in the sky?
This is our home, you and I—
Why didn’t we wake up in time?

My mother stood right next to me,
My father pale, but I could see
My brother walking by my side,
Along a river shining bright.
The water glowed, the shells like stars,
Too beautiful for dying hearts.
I was crying, “Life is real,
Life is everything we feel.
It’s so beautiful, can’t you see?
I don’t want this to leave me.
Why are you fighting, why this hate,
Why didn’t you protect our place?”

We were one—no names, no lands,
One small planet in our hands.
Children of the good and light,
Born to think, not born to fight.
But we turned on one another first,
And paid the price with cosmic dust.

Why didn’t you wake up in time?
Why did you leave us behind?
We’re children of the Earth, the light,
Why did you teach us how to fight?
Ukraine, Greenland, lines and lies,
While death was falling from the sky.
This is our mother, this is our cry—
Why didn’t you wake up in time?

I woke up crying, heart on fire,
The sky still falling in my mind.
If this is only just a dream,
Please let tomorrow choose to live.
