Because gone too far

Red-haired girl with her cap pulled down to hide her flashing green eyes, stood there staring at the person coughing in a chair, leaning heavily on the table.

He looked up at her in pure shock. He could never have believed it was her, the girl who used to be his daughter's friend.

She was the killer?

Poison was coursing through his body, leaving him with little time. He just kept looking at her.

It was a silent question, he didn't understand.

And she smiled.

"Mister... you look really bad, what happened... does it hurt... how much evidence, you tried hard while playing detective. It's a shame, you shouldn't have been getting involved in something that wasn't your concern. Was it curiosity... or pity for some useless shitheads. Took what wasn't yours, tried to blame in everything with no direct proof... you're such a bad friend, mister... bad parent... and a bad detective, too. If you were only not so judgmental and distrustful, maybe you'd see things clear in front of you. Despair can be blinding, can't it? Why didn't you just die like you wanted. I know you wanted, your neighbours knew, everyone knew. Missed her all this time, didn't you? Ah yes, how could you ever believe it was really just an accident. Wanted the truth so badly..."

Her demeanor shifted slightly, face darkening for a fleeting moment.

"She looked just like this back then... that night, all alone. Mister, you should be glad now, I did you a favor. You'll meet her very soon."
