It was a bright sunny day, as he took her to their field spot. He had to talk to her about what happened a week ago.

"Mm..." she walked a few steps away, smiling beamingly as she put hands behind her back in a somewhat chilling manner - "who was she?"

He didn't respond, looking gravely into space.

"Why did you have a funeral for her? Did she mean something to you?" she thrilled in a sweet childish voice, giving him a very intent look.

"No, she didn't." he was looking aside, for once realizing how unstable in her obsession she's become "Essie..."

"What?" all beaming, delighted, "I love my sunshine!"

He considered what to do, realizing not only she became so obsessive, she was also getting more clever and ultimately cold in staging murders and doing it so clean "It was you..."

"What do you mean?" she smiled genuinely, "Ah... I love you so much!"

"Love... Essie, you-" he didn't even have time to finish.

She gave a happy exclaim, rushing to him and pulling him into a hug with reddened cheeks, not giving a damn about anything else.

He remained silent as she kept whispering in a pure bliss, "We'll get married, when I get a little older, right?" she hugged him tighter, humming, cheeks all flushed and burning hot.

"We... will," he tried to keep a cool mind and think this through strategically - knowing it was too dangerous to be reasonable with someone like her.

"Whee!" she hugged him even tighter, "I'll never let anyone take my sunshine away from me!"

"Essie," he understood that she wouldn't stop now just at wife, she would go after his children as well. "You have to hear me out now," he pulled away slightly, making eye contact, "I need you to promise me something."

"Mm?" she was genuinely surprised, looking at him, still red, and with this innocent yet unsettling look in her eyes, "What is it?"

"I shouldn't have hid anything from you, I made a mistake. We are partners," he spoke in a cold, gentle voice, not letting anything else show through, pulling on her strings.

"Mm-hmm!!" she nodded.

"You have to promise me, Essie. My family, don't hurt them." He kept his tone straight as he said it, his eyes not leaving hers.

Her face suddenly went completely blank, "What do you mean your family?"

"My family, Essie. You killed my wife. And I know you know about my children too." He proceeded in a soothing voice.

"Why..." her face darkened, voice dropped an octave, "Why do you need a family... you have me."

"Essie," he looked at her sternly, clutching her shoulder, "I said that not because I have anyone more important than you." He held his breath for a moment, putting on a nervous act intentionally, "You understand, I know. It could bring real problems... to me."

"Uh?.." she suddenly looked concerned, realizing he was implying that if she kept killing those around him, it could draw police attention to him and get him arrested, since he was an adult and they would just blame it all on him. And she didn't want problems for him.

"We agreed, Essie? I need your promise." He stated evenly, sounding cold and convincing, knowing this should work.

"Mm..." just as suddenly, she broke into a radiant smile again, though her eyes still shone with slight annoyance, "okay! I promise. I won't let any problems get sunshine!"

He stared her down, tone getting more authoritative, "You won't hurt my family, Essie. I need you to say this."

Annoyed, she paused, but then smiled wider, hugging him tightly again, her cheeks reddening once more, "I won't hurt your family."
