Washing Away the Tracks

I walk barefoot along the edge of the salty sea,
The sun blinds my eyes, mirrored in the glassy deep.
Behind me, my footprints stay for a moment, free,
Like everything I told you... a promise I had to keep.
I look at the vastness — gulls cry of things unknown,
Their voices cut the air like a truth that’s sharp and blue.
In this world, once, we breathed as one, not alone,
But the sea has decided: there's no way back for us two.
Chorus:
Forgive me for breaking the silence of your tide,
For storming into your locked, narrow world so fast.
I’m just sad... it hurts... with nowhere to hide,
That your fear was stronger than the compass I cast.
And the sea washes away the tracks by its own will...
All that was aching, now in the salt is still.
I walk on the sand, becoming weightless and light,
By the cries of the gulls, tamed forever in flight.
The tracks disappear... and the shore is pure as a prayer.
I’ve turned the page of this wounded book we share.
I see your silhouette ahead in the gathering gloom,
You stand there watching my back, frozen in the air.
You remember me, seeking answers to your doom,
But I won’t recognize you in this long goodbye we bear.
You are a shadow in the dark, I am the wind on the shore,
I no longer know your voice or your thoughts anymore.
I gave all I could — and now I run, I don't stay,
To where words find their meanings in a real way.
No longer a witch. No longer a foe.
Just walking through the dusk, letting it go.
You remain a prisoner of your walls and your track,
And I won't return. There is no road... back.
Outro:
Do you hear? Only the gulls...
Only the wind...
I don’t know you anymore.
Not anymore.
Not anymore.
