The Boy Who Sparkled

I saw him, right there, across the street. And my tummy did a little flip-flop. He looked so… nice. Like a shiny new toy I really, really wanted. My brain started buzzing, but not with big, complicated thoughts. It was more like a quick, happy hum. Why did I like him? Maybe it was the way his hair stuck up a little, or the way he smiled. But even then, I knew that wasn't the real reason. Those were just little bits my brain found to explain the big, sparkly feeling.

Honestly, I don’t know why some people just click, like when magnets snap together. It’s like a secret superpower that some people have. Maybe it’s like… invisible stuff that floats around in the air? And when two people are close, their invisible stuff mixes, and it makes a zing! It's like a special key that fits perfectly into a special lock. I don’t know what this invisible stuff is, or how it works, but I think it’s super cool. It’s a mystery, and I’m a scientist now, I guess. And all the best scientists do experiments, right? So, I’m going to do my experiments… right on myself. It’s going to be so interesting!
