Split by night - A premonition of winter

Islands wrapped in winter's shroud—
Earth beneath a frozen veil.
In the sky, the moon unbound,
Held within the Milky trail.

Shorelines locked in icy chains,
Bridges raised of blinding white.
Heaven fused with frozen plains,
Yet you and I are split by night.

Faster now, the northern gales
Breathe their fury, sharp and keen,
Chasing fleets of ghostly sails
Over voids where islands gleam.

Closing circles, old and deep,
All must fade before the thaw.
At the crossroads where dreams sleep,
Winter waits behind the door.
