While dragons burnt the sky

Black dragons rode the night
Tearing the skies apart
Free, at last, from the chains
That bound them to time
They made their rampant flight.

Impetuous and divine
They climbed on the height
Then dived to the bottom of clouds
One by one.

Never before I have seen such a graceful dignity
And nevermore I will see again such a miracle!

Over tops of the trees
A single star appears.
Clouds are flowing away,
Tempest turns into breeze.
When excitement is gone
Dragons are appeased.

Land, overcasted, waits impatiently for dawn
Though sunrise doesn't hasten to arrive.
In this voiceless hour only spirits moan.
I must scream to make me feel that I'm alive!

Night tries to wipe away all colors from the sky.
Sky is spilling drops of bitter rain.
Strange attendance I can sensate nearby.
There's no one around but tension doesn't go away.

So I stood and gazed
At the land that slept in gales
When abruptly in my ears
Voice of dragon sounded clear:

"Thou sighted our dance in the flashes of lightning.
It's no small task for the being who's time is too short even
To pay heed to the changes in the world around him.
Alas, humanity is blind.
But let us pity not all those pathetic fools
Who think they may rule this realm.
Can they? Can they really rule seas and oceans, winds and tempests.
Are they able to command day and night, the sun and the stars?
All they are doing well is killing each other.
When they finally eliminate themselves from the glebe
It will only add some charm to these tormented landscapes.
Centuries... this is not the time for us.
We can wait a little more."

And thus he spoke to me
Of the things that were and would be
I was mesmerised, so I couldn't see him.

Many hours have gone
'Till I realized that I stand alone.
Was that talk just a dream? - I shall never know.

...But when I looked upon the silent meadow
I discerned the blink of wing-shaped shadow!

Black dragons rode the night
Tearing the skies apart
Free, at last, from the chains
That bound them to time
They kept on their rampant flight.

I exhorted thunder
To let people open their eyes.
But the whole world laid in slumber
While dragons burnt the night sky.
