Winter Butterfly

Did I mix up the calendar, or did you take a wrong turn?
On my window, where frost draws maps of non-existent lands,
A sky-blue fragment trembles. Impossible. Alive.
You beat against the glass, thinking the streetlamp is the sun.
Foolish one.
It’s just an electric lie.

One flutter—and the frost will burn your patterns.
One breath—and I fear the warmth will be too much.
The world froze still, watching this mistake of nature.

Припев
You are a winter butterfly in the heart of a snowfall,
A colored scream amidst the silent ice.
Don't fly toward the light, it doesn't warm, it only blinds.
I’ll hide you in my palms, even if only for a moment.
Even if we both vanish before the morning.
You are too fragile for this January.

People pass by, wrapping themselves in scarves,
They cannot understand this tiny feat of wings.
You seek nectar on the frozen glass,
But find only my reflection, filled with fear.
I breathe on the pane, trying to create for you
A tiny summer the size of a coin.

Time is frozen, seconds don’t pulse, they sink in the drifts.
Why is beauty always so tragically short?
I cannot stop this snow!
I cannot undo the laws of winter!
But I can... I can just be there until you fall asleep.

Sleep.
It’s warm now.
I promise.
