Three White Horses
by: L. Derbenev, from the Film: "The Sorcerers" ("Чародеи")
Frost has gripped the rivers, the earth grown cold,
Homes huddle close, bracing against the cold.
In the city, it’s warm and damp, not cozy,
Warm and damp, not cozy,
But beyond, true winter stretches wide...
And it carries me away, into the ringing snow,
Three white steeds - December, January, February!
Winter's embrace, a blanket of snow so wide,
Silence reigns until spring's return.
Fir trees in their triangular gowns,
Rushing toward me, running, running, running...
And they carry me away, into the ringing snow,
Three white steeds - December, January, February!
Yet I fear not winter's breath.
In the city, I felt such loneliness,
But beyond, laughter fills the air...
And they carry me away, into the ringing snow,
Three white steeds - December, January, February!
