Oh friends, just remembered something cool! Decided to add this note. So, looking at the title reminded me—I actually worked on a workstation named exactly like that in one lab I visited. Imagine that! On the front panel were these same letters “SUN” tilted at different angles. Here's the kicker though—the computer had Unix-like system too, just like my beloved Mac, and terminal commands ran without any hitch. My scripts executed thousands of times faster, if not quicker. I loved how it looked and performed.
Noticing my interest, they showed me something truly amazing. They opened the case and revealed two power supplies inside, each removable independently along with processors and hard drives. Mind-blowingly awesome! Right in front of me, they yanked out a processor while the system kept running smoothly. That's called “hot-swapping,” they explained—a feature designed for extra reliability. What an incredible experience!
