Drawbridges as distinies
Like human fates at night.
They bring you close or tear you apart,
Keep souls severed, rob them of light.
You live on distant shores, unknowing,
One day the spans will close.
You'll find the half your heart chose,
Before the bridges part and fate forecloses.
Playing with another's heart's desire,
The bridges part, you're swept away.
To some far, forgotten shore alone,
Which side you'll land — who can say?
They part on time, a strict cold hour,
Life gives a chance to think, to choose.
Before the steel draws back forever,
And you're left with what you win or lose.
Madmen leap as bridges rise,
To mend their fate with desperate heart.
Not all survive that reckless trick —
Dark water waits below, cold, quick, apart.
Drawbridges rise above the dark Neva...
Like human fates at night...
