Bridge Window
Alone in half-empty cafe I sit.
Strong coffee steams, I stare through the glass,
Lonely walkers flee the rain bit by bit.
Drops race down the window pane,
Neva slaps against granite shore.
Shadows stretch long in streetlamp glow,
Time moves slow when you're pondering more.
Had I missed the bridges closing time,
Would there be deferred love anymore?
Different shores, different life, different rhyme,
Or fate would find another door?
Steam rises slow from my cup's dark brim,
Memories flicker like rain on the pane.
One choice, one night, one bridge locked in time,
Saved me from solitude's endless refrain.
Drops race down... Neva slaps...
Bridge window wonders evermore...
